Our Verdict

As of January 2020, the RAVPower Deluxe 16750 is Discontinued
REASONS TO BUY
Large capacity for its price
REASONS TO AVOID
Not the most portable
Relatively mediocre overall
Finishing right at the very back of the group, the RAVPower Deluxe 16750 fared overall quite poorly in our tests. This battery is a bit of a pain to carry around and delivered an unimpressive performance in the majority of our tests. Its price and capacity put it a bit in the awkward middle, being too large and expensive to easily carry around with you everywhere, but you could spend just a bit more and get a battery that is way larger if you are going to leave it in your bag.

Our Analysis and Test Results

This portable battery finished right at the bottom of the group, just behind the Aibocn. The Aibocn has less capacity, but is easier to carry around than the RAVPower Deluxe. Additionally, it also costs about ⅓ of what the RAVPower Deluxe does, with both of these batteries being equivalent when it comes to convenience features.

Performance Comparison

To find out which battery packs are really the best, we looked at a wide selection of the available battery packs on the market, then pitted the most promising against each other in a series of head-to-head challenges that covered everything from capacity to convenience, with the Deluxe's results in our four weighted rating metrics outlined below.

Portability

Responsible for 40% of the final score for each battery pack, our set of portability tests claim the top spot when it comes to significance. We compared the volume each battery took up, its weight, and how it felt to carry it around in your pocket. The RAVPower Deluxe 16750 didn't get off to a great start, earning a 4 out of 10.

It is also a bit on the heavier side, with our scale recording a weight of 10.92 oz.

This makes the RAVPower Deluxe quite uncomfortable to have in a pocket — front or back — while sitting. It doesn't stick out of most pockets, but feels like you are sitting on a giant wallet.

The width on this battery also makes it very cumbersome to carry around in a pocket while you are walking around.

Capacity

Following our ease of carrying tests, our battery capacity tests came next in terms of performance, responsible for 30% of the overall score for each portable charger. The RAVPower Deluxe is about average in this metric, earning a 5 out of 10. We based this on the results of two tests — the first being how well any advertising claims stood up to our testing and the second being how much total energy we could extract using a test electrical dummy load.

RAVPower claims that this battery can charge a Galaxy S7 3.5 times, an iPhone 7 5.5 times, or an iPad Air once. This battery slightly exceeded that claim in our test, charging the Galaxy Phone 3.58 times before it was fully depleted.

In our maximum capacity discharge test, the Deluxe didn't do quite as well. With a discharge rate set for 2.4 amps, we were only able to pull about 58% of this battery's maximum capacity, or 9654 mAh. We did this test with a lower discharge rate and got a little more juice out — 10,156 mAh, so not a huge improvement, but a bit.

Added Convenience

Next, we looked at the various features on these portable USB chargers that make them a breeze to use. We looked to see if each charger had integrated cables, built-in recharging methods, or a flashlight module, as well as what warranty is included and how many devices you can charge. Altogether, these assessments account for one-fifth of the total score, with the RAVPower Deluxe earning a 5 out of 10.

This battery doesn't have a built-in re-charging plug or any integrated cables for charging devices, but does have a handy flashlight built right into the device.

Additionally, it also comes with 2 micro USB cables.

This battery can charge multiple devices at once and also includes an 18-month limited warranty, with an extension added if you register.

Recharge Time

The RAVPower Deluxe again delivered a mediocre showing, earning a 5 out of 10 for its performance in this test, which is worth 10% of the overall score. Using a high-quality wall adapter and the LED lights to determine when it was fully charged, we found that it took almost 7.5 hours to fully recharge.

Value

This product isn't a great value, as there are better options if you are shopping on a budget or there are far better batteries for just a few bucks more if you want one of the top-notch products.

Conclusion

Overall, we weren't huge fans of this portable power pack. It finished right at the back of the group and its performance makes us a bit reticent to recommend it.
